I recently stumbled across :devusernameotherwiseunbroken:'s
journal entry on 200 themes. It is a list of 200 ideas, words, or concepts. I really liked this idea, and so, with the help of
Random.org, I rolled ten numbers from 1 to 200:
magic
pain
gray
drowning
innocence
tower
food
fortitude
in the storm
no way out
So it looks like I am going to be writing a story about a girl with magical powers.

It will be set in a modern time, but with crosses between our world and a fantasy one. I want it to be a darker Harry Potter, with more serious themes and ideas (ex: at the beginning of the story the protagonist discovers her abilities when she kills her abusive father in self defense). There will be magical creatures and dragons, but most of them will be spirit or unsubstantiated form.
When I first started out writing, I did so with fantasy. Then, as I got older I needed to satisfy my emotional needs with expression through poetry, and I stopped writing fiction. I want to return to that original passion.
